Geographical Location & History
Winterthur is in the north-east of Switzerland, very close to Zurich and Zurich airport and the German border. It is easily reachable from Austria, Germany, Italy and France (by train or car) as well as every other country you could imagine (by plane). The Eulach, a little river, flows in the middle by the city, because of this the town called "Eulach-City". Zurich lies southwest of Winterthur. The town is renowned for its institute of higher education Technikum, which is the largest school of technology in Switzerland. Winterthur received the Wakker Prize for the development and preservation of its architectural heritage.
